It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Myta Sr. passed away at 14 years of age. Myta was both the lion and lamb of the sanctuary. He showed gentleness, protectiveness, tolerance and a deep, abiding love for his family.
Myta, his mate Kuani and their six pups (Spruce, Myta Jr., Bart & sisters Jinkies, Cricket and Chai) were privately owned in San Bernardino, CA. The entire pack has lived here for many years. Myta Sr. was the pillar of the family, and he now joins his deceased mate Kuani and their daughter Cricket, who were waiting for him.

In January 2012, heavy snow followed by ice swept through the South Puget Sound area of Washington state. Wolf Haven International suffered $50,000 worth of damage. Heavy winds and ice caused trees and limbs to splinter, crack, and topple throughout the sanctuary, and seriously damaged 24 our of 27 wolf enclosures. Thankfully, no animals or humans were hurt or killed. Wolf Haven International was forced to temporarily close its doors until repairs were made and debris was removed.

This video shows what the sanctuary looked like immediately following the storm (BEFORE clean-up) and two months later (AFTER clean-up). Donors, local businesses, volunteers, made all the difference. Wolf Haven reopened for tours on March 17, 2012. Go see them and visit the wolves!
